Opelika Middle School Students Showcase Civic Knowledge at Inaugural Civics Bee

Opelika Middle School students recently showcased their civic knowledge and leadership skills at the inaugural Civics Bee, hosted by the Opelika Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The event was part of a national initiative aimed at encouraging young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities.
The Civics Bee invited students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade to demonstrate their understanding of civic principles for a chance to earn recognition and prizes. Through rounds of civics-based quiz questions and essay presentations, the competition aimed to promote civic knowledge, celebrate civic pride, and emphasize the importance of informed and active citizenship in building a strong country, economy, and workforce.
Opelika Middle School was proudly represented, with OMS students making up more than half of the local finalists competing in the event. Their hard work, preparation, and commitment to civic engagement were evident throughout the competition.
We are incredibly proud of the way they represented Opelika and the spirit of civic leadership. Congratulations to our Opelika Middle School competitors for their outstanding efforts!
