Celebrating National Principals Month: Spotlight on Mrs. Laura Sellers

Opelika City Schools proudly recognizes Mrs. Laura Sellers, Principal of Morris Avenue Intermediate School, for her commitment to cultivating an environment where students, staff, and families feel known and supported.
Now in her 12th year in education and 11th year in Opelika, Mrs. Sellers leads with intentionality and care. “My favorite part about being a principal in Opelika is working with the incredible people — our dedicated staff, amazing students, and supportive families,” she shared.
This year, Mrs. Sellers is grounding her leadership in the belief that schools should be more than just places of learning. “We’re focused on how we can strive to be a place of belonging and community of becoming for our students, families, and each other, because that’s what we all deserve,” she said.
Mrs. Sellers says it’s especially rewarding to watch Morris Avenue students grow and thrive as they continue through their educational journey. “One of my favorite moments each year is during Meet the Teacher, seeing former students coming back to visit,” she shared. “It’s meaningful, and a reminder of the lasting relationships we build here.”
Thank you, Mrs. Sellers, for helping Morris Avenue feel like home.
