SENIOR CLASS OF 2010 INFORMATION UPDATEThe following information is very important for the seniors’ end of the year activities. Please read all of the information listed below so you will be prepared. If you have questions, please contact Donna Williamson at Opelika High School at 745-9715. January 19-21Graduation Assessment of $50 was due. After January 21 the assessment is $55. (This covers diploma, diploma cover, miniature diploma, program, cap and gown, tassel, etc.) This assessment is not refundable.Thursday, April 1Graduation invitations will be distributed during lunch. Balance must be paid with cash or money order. No checks accepted after April 1. Friday, April 9Junior–Senior Prom at the Marriott - Grand National 8:00-12:00 Seniors who bought tickets as juniors may attend free. However, seniors who did not purchase tickets or attend their junior year must purchase a ticket. Pictures will begin at 5:00. Students must adhere to the prom dress code, which is available online. Tuesday, April 29Seniors receive caps and gowns during lunch. All debts must be cleared.Pick up caps and gowns in Mainstreet during lunch.
Friday, May 14 Baccalaureate practice will be at 8:00 a.m. Seniors report to the Mainstreet Gym. Seniors must attend practice to be counted present at school for the day. Awards Day practice is afterwards. The Senior Picnic is from 10:30-12:30 at the Municipal Park. All graduating seniors are invited. Seniors may not bring guests to the picnic. Sunday, May 16 Baccalaureate 8:30 a.m. in OPAC and Awards Day Program 2:00 p.m. in OPAC
Friday, May 21 – Graduation practice beginning at 8:00 a.m. in OPAC. Seniors must attend graduation practice in order to march on graduation night. ***Dr. Cox must approve any absence from practice in advance. Friday, May 21 - GRADUATION in Bulldog Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Report to the OPAC no later than 6:15 p.m. Find your assigned seat and sit down. Don’t be late! The Class of 2010 marches into Bulldog Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Required attire for Baccalaureate and graduation: Young ladies 1. Wear a solid black or navy blue dress without a collar. Make sure the dress is shorter than your gown.
Young men 1. Wear a solid white dress shirt with a collar. 2. Wear a solid black or navy blue tie. A tie is required.
black socks. No denim and no tennis shoes. ***Make sure you follow the dress guidelines. Anyone dressed inappropriately will not be allowed to participate in Baccalaureate or graduation. For Baccalaureate and graduation: Follow dress attire guidelines. Girls, have the gown collar already attached when you arrive. Don’t forget your tassels. National Honor Society members – gold tassel, gold honor cord, and gold stole These programs are very formal. Make sure you behave during both. Remember, you only receive your diploma cover during the graduation ceremony. The diplomas you will get later when you pick up your graduation packets. Baccalaureate and graduation are no place for small children and/or babies who might cry and disrupt the program. Tell your family and friends not to yell and scream during the graduation ceremony, so that each name can be heard. On graduation night you are expected to walk across the stage with dignity. After graduation is over, report to the OPAC (enter from loading dock doors) to pick up your senior packet and diploma. All senior debts must be cleared before caps and gowns are distributed, which is April 29. No checks will be accepted at OHS after April 1. Debts must be paid with cash or money orders. Opelika High School Class of 2010 – Graduation Video Dear Parents, Opelika High School will offer the graduating Class of 2010 the opportunity to purchase a VHS or DVD of the graduation ceremony at Bulldog Stadium.Mr. Tracy Tidwell, director of the video production programs, is in charge of the video. By purchasing the video, your son/daughter can have a “lifetime memory” of his/her high school graduation. The video will include the entire graduation ceremony. The video will be mailed directly to you. Mr. Tidwell may be contacted @ Opelika High School, 745-9715 (Ext. 212). The cost is $10.00 for VHS tapes and $20 for DVD’s if ordered before Monday, May 3, 2010. The cost is $15.00 for VHS tapes and $25 for DVD’s if ordered after May 3. Return this form with your money to Mr. Tidwell. (Checks will be accepted until April 1.
