The School of Computer and Information Sciences is pleased to announce for Academic Year 2010:
$50,000 Outstanding Student Scholarships Program

The University of South Alabama’s School of Computer and Information Sciences will award ten, $5,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen entering USA in the Fall semester, 2010 and pursuing a degree in, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology. Students that begin as a general studies student in Computer and Information Sciences will also be eligible for this scholarship program.
The three groups of students that are eligible and encouraged to apply for these awards are:


•Students with a composite ACT score of 29 or higher or equivalent SAT score

•Students graduating high school with an IB diploma

•Students graduating high school with an Honor’s diploma


Qualifications and award values:
Full-time incoming freshmen could receive a scholarship for $5,000 to be awarded as follows:
$2,000 awarded at the beginning of freshman academic year contingent on meeting the eligibility requirements


$1,000 awarded at the beginning of the following three academic years contingent on continued enrollment at USA while pursuing a degree within the School of Computer and Information Sciences, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0, and completion of 30 hours of course work per academic year
This scholarship will be awarded in addition to the general scholarship program for freshmen.
Application forms can be found on-line at www.cis.usouthal.edu under “School Scholarships” - “Outstanding Student Scholarships” or picked up in the main CIS office at FCW 20.
For full consideration, applications should be postmarked by December 1, 2009. High School activities and accomplishments as well as leadership may be considered when awarding scholarships. Final decisions will be made by the School of Computer and Information Sciences. Recipients will be notified via mail in late January.


Scholarships will be declared void if student fails to take appropriate course work as advised by a School of CIS advisor.
