Dual Enrollment

Through a direct partnership with Southern Union, students may earn college credit while also earning credit at Opelika High School. Students pay tuition as set and required by the college. The following courses are designated as dual enrollment courses for Opelika High and Southern Union:

Advanced Placement US History

Pre-calculus

Calculus

 

Students must qualify for Math courses through the COMPASS placement test—giving at Southern Union or with a minimum Math sub score on the ACT of 20.

 

Additionally, a student may earn college credit while enrolled at Opelika High School by participating in the Accelerated High School Program. Per state guidelines, students must meet the following criteria:

Successful completion of 10th grade

Have an overall ‘B’ average

Meet entrance requirements and submit an application

Obtain written approval from the principal and superintendent
