Grades PreK-5th grade
August 5  Meet Your Teacher Day, 7:30-10:00 a.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Opelika Middle School
August 5, 10:00 a.m.  6th grade orientation for students and parents.  Students will receive their schedules and meet their team teachers.
August 5,  1:00 p.m.   7th and 8th grade students will receive their schedules and meet their team teachers.
 Opelika High School
July 25-Schedules will be mailed to all upperclassmen (Grades 10-12) 
*There will be no schedule pick up
July 31-Freshman Orientation
Invitations with details will be mailed to all 9th grade students.
Freshmen will receive their schedules during orientation.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL is AUGUST 7, 2014 (full day)

Alabama Sounds of Summer

The Opelika High School "Spirit of the South" band presents the Alabama Sounds of Summer on July 24 at 8:00 p.m. in Bulldog Stadium.  The event features six Drum and Bugle Corps from across the nation competing for top honors in the second annual Drum Corps International (DCI) show held in Opelika.  Featured Drum Corp groups include:  Spirit of Atlanta, GA; Bluestars, WI; Colts, IA; Madison Scouts, WI; Mandarins, CA and Pioneer, WI.  Tickets are available online at www.dci.org.  Tickets will also be available at the gate.  For show information call Jason Smith, OHS Band Director,  334-745-9717.  Alabama Sounds of Summer is sponsored by Spirit Entertainment and The Opelika-Auburn News.

Reconnect 2014-15

Attention parents of 3rd, 6th and 9th grade students

In order to update our student records, all students moving up to a new school for the first time are required to reconnect.  Parents are required to provide current resident and emergency contact information.   Grades included in reconnect are upcoming third grade, sixth grade, and ninth grade.   When students move from one school to another, often parents and children have moved to a new residence and/or have changed telephone numbers and contact information.   Reconnecting will increase the accuracy of the information we have on students enrolled in our system.

Parents will be required to provide the new school with the following:

  • Two utility bills that are current within the last 30 days (such as power and water or power and gas)
  • Parental contact information/active telephone numbers
  • Emergency contacts
  • Physician information

This information is vital for all schools to maintain up-to-date student demographic information.   Please be prepared to present the documentation listed above to complete your child’s enrollment during the time period of Monday, July 14, 2014 and Friday, August 1, 2014, 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. at all intermediate schools, OMS and OHS.  This process must be completed before the first day of school, Thursday, August 7, 2014.
