Farrell Seymore named Principal of the Year PDF Print E-mail
OMS Principal Farrell Seymore has been chosen as the 2009 Central Region Principal of the Year by the Alabama Community Education Association (ACEA).  The award was presented to Mr. Seymore during the ACEA annual conference held recently in Orange Beach, AL. Mr. Seymore was chosen for this award because of his dedication to Community Education and his support of the 21st Century Community Learning Center activities held at OMS.  In  addition to his regular support of the program, Mr. Seymore sponsors a Strategy Game Club that meets once a week.  Congratulations!

Farrell Seymore has served the children of Opelika for the past 11 years.  He taught seventh-grade science at Opelika Middle School for five years and then moved into the assistant principal’s position for the next five years.  This is his first year as principal at OMS.

Farrell is an active member of CLAS (Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools), AAMSP (Alabama Association of Middle School Principals), and the NMSA (National Middle School Association).  He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree from Auburn University.  While completing graduate work, Farrell received the Dennis Sabo Memorial Fellowship in 2006 and a scholarship from AAMSP in 2007.

Farrell and his wife Sarah have two children, Anna and Patrick.  His interests include reading, college football, and strategy games.  Farrell and his family attend West Auburn Baptist Church.
